Donations for Olga Daze barn sale and auction needed

by BARBARA WHEELER

Special to the Sounder

We have wonderful events on Orcas Island. Many of them are annual and are awaited with joyful anticipation.

Olga Daze, on Saturday, July 17, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is one of these annual affairs enjoyed by Islanders, as well as visitors, some of whom plan their vacations each year around this fun day.

Included in the festivities will be a silent auction featuring

fine art, jewelry, handcrafts, and services such as whale watching and kayak tours. We would welcome your donation of paintiings, books, silver, sculpture, or valuable items that you have outgrown but might be just right for someone else. Please call Barbara Wheeler at 376-3224 if you need a donation picked up.

You will also find an outstanding “Barn Sale” with a large

variety of gently used treasures. Again, we would welcome your donations. We ask that they be clean and in good working order. Donations may be brought to Olga Park, next to the Community Clubhouse, on Thursday and Friday, July 8 and 9, or Thursday and Friday, July 15 and 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. If you need to arrange a pick up for your donation, please call George Post at 376-4887.

Starting at 10 a.m. with the wonderful odors of hot dogs and Italian sausage on the grill, and Betty Marcum’s totally awesome maple bars, there will be lots of live music for the next four hours, the quilt raffle, and “the World’s Shortest Parade” at noon. See you there!
