The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
May 7
• A Lopez deputy responded to an individual experiencing delusions. A mental health referral was generated.
• A Lopez deputy responded to a report of a juvenile taking a vehicle without permission. The incident was investigated and a referral to juvenile court was made.
• Orcas deputies received a report of fraud. The citizen was made aware of the fraud after utilizing an online fraud security service.
• An Orcas Island deputy stopped a vehicle on Orcas Road. The driver, a local, was subsequently issued an infraction for driving 54 mph in a 40 mph speed zone and illegally overtaking another vehicle on the left.
• Orcas Island deputies responded to a citizen’s report of lost property. The citizen reported having lost two sets of vintage wedding rings. Deputies documented a description of the rings and contact information for the citizen.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a collision in the 100 block of Grover Street. A driver had struck a parked car at that location: no apparent injuries occurred, and no signs of impairment were noted. The driver was issued a traffic infraction and a collision report was generated.
• Orcas Island deputies responded to a report of a non-injury vehicle accident. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the involved parties and assisted with the exchange of information.
• A Lopez deputy responded to a report of a roadside pride flag being stolen.
May 8
• A deputy on Orcas Island, along with Orcas Island Fire and Rescue personnel, responded to an overdose call. The victim responded to lifesaving efforts and refused further treatment.
• Deputies were dispatched to a juvenile problem. The deputy arrived and spoke with the people involved. The incident was a verbal argument between a daughter and mother. Both agreed to separate for a time.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of property damage. A person’s mailbox had been struck by a vehicle. No contact information was left at the scene. This case is being investigated.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of property damage. Investigation revealed a truck likely threw a rock from a wheel, causing damage to a residence. No information was available as to who may have caused the damage.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle as the owner had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was arrested for DUI, driving without an ignition interlock device and driving while license suspended in the third degree.
May 11
• Orcas Island deputies received a call from an individual concerned about an interaction they had with their neighbor. The reporting party was given a written statement form to document the event. No crime was reported.
• An Orcas Island deputy conducted a traffic stop for a driver who was speeding 47 mph in a posted 35 mph speed zone on Orcas Road. The driver was subsequently issued an infraction for speed. The driver also received several verbal warnings for other infractions.
• Orcas Island deputies were contacted by a citizen who wanted to report theft from her home and storage unit. They reported knowing who had taken the items, but they did not have proof. A written statement was completed.
• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a disorderly conduct incident near North Beach. An investigation was conducted, and the suspect was arrested for indecent exposure.

• Deputies on San Juan responded to a parking problem. An individual had parked their truck in someone else’s driveway, blocking their egress. The truck was gone upon the deputy’s arrival. The homeowner then trespassed the person from their property.
