Curious cat, delinquent dogs, gravel gaffe | San Juan County Sheriff’s Log

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

Feb. 14

• A Lopez deputy responded to a trespassing call in the village.

• On San Juan, a deputy responded to a report of a collision in a bank parking lot. No citations were issued and an exchange of information was facilitated.

• Lopez Fire & EMS and a deputy were dispatched to an allergy basic life support call.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for expired registration and issued the driver multiple warnings and a citation for an expired registration over two months.

• On Orcas, a deputy responded to a single-vehicle collision caused by a mechanical failure. The passenger was treated and released at the scene.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a non-injury accident that involved a vehicle in the ditch off the roadway.

Feb. 15

•Deputies determined a trespassing call on Lopez that was determined to be unfounded.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a harassment call, later determined to be a civil matter.

Feb. 16

• On San Juan, a deputy responded to a report of property damage. Law enforcement determined that no crime had occurred; the owner of one of the vehicles agreed to compensate the other driver for a broken window due to gravel being thrown.

Feb. 17

• A deputy took a report of an animal problem near Eastsound and gave the dogs’ owner a written warning.

• On Orcas, a deputy conducted a traffic stop near Moran State Park and issued the driver a citation for not having proof of insurance and a verbal warning for speeding.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle and issued them a speeding citation for traveling 38 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone.

• A deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle on Fisherman Bay Road on Lopez and issued them a citation for not having proof of insurance as well as additional warnings.

Feb. 18

• On Lopez, a deputy stopped the driver of another vehicle on Fisherman Bay Road and issued them a citation for driving while their license was suspended/revoked third-degree.

Feb. 19

• A Lopez deputy responded to a sick animal call.

• A deputy on Orcas was dispatched to a civil complaint regarding community property and determined no crime had been committed.

Feb. 20

• A Lopez resident requested assistance with locating a missing cat. The cat had not been found at the time of the report.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a citizen dispute call where the reporting party wanted their neighbor given a trespass warning letter.
