The preliminary draft Housing Element and fourth draft Housing Needs Assessment are now available for public review as part of the San Juan County Comprehensive Plan update. Everyone is invited to provide public comment on the element and HNA drafts.

This is the first opportunity for the public to review and comment on the preliminary draft element. Goals and policies in the element consider public input from earlier outreach activities and were drafted with guidance from the Housing Advisory Committee. The existing 2009 Element will be repealed and replaced. The fourth draft HNA includes an updated section on vacation rentals and minor housekeeping edits throughout.

How to comment: Public comments are being accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 16, 2020. Submit your comments to compplancomments@sanjuanco.com with the subject line: “RE: Housing Element and HNA.” Provide your full name and address for the record. Identify the page and line number pertaining to the comment. If possible, provide specific alternative or additional language.
