Ingrid Gabriel has been hired as the new San Juan County Council Clerk.

A former and current Friday Harbor resident, Gabriel left the county in 2005 to obtain her Masters Degree in Legal studies from Texas State University.

Until recently, Gabriel served as a legal assistant and office administrator for a private law office in Austin, Texas. Before returning to school, she worked for San Juan County as a district court clerk and as an assistant clerk in the prosecuting attorney’s office.

Her background includes a legal internship with the Tulare County Family Support Service Division in California and business manager of a Texas engineering firm.

Gabriel will fill the position left vacant by Ann Larson, who resigned June 24 to join the state senate staff of former County Councilman Kevin Ranker.

When not working she enjoys writing, swimming and running. Her mother and 12-year-old daughter both live in Friday Harbor.
