Community starts LAMIRD process

The county is moving ahead with a Country Corner Limited Area of More Intense Rural Development – and the task of setting land use and development standards has begun.

During the June 15 meeting, residents of the area sat down with Senior Planner Colin Maycock for more discussion and questions before breaking into groups. Each table look at land use options and outlined their preferred uses.

“It went reasonably well,” Maycock said.

It will take the planning department several weeks to compile the group’s preferences. Maycock will present them at the next LAMIRD meeting on Monday, July 13 at the Eastsound Fire Hall from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. During that session, community members will look at division and development standards.
