Learn the tango

Local instructors are again offering their community dance class on Monday, March 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall. They will offer another session of tango with Stan and Kay Miller to review previous steps and add new ones. Instruction will begin promptly at 7 p.m. followed by dancing at 8 p.m. The classes are free and no partner is needed.

How to build a better brain

The Orcas Island Senior Center is offering an informative presentation about memory improvement on Saturday, March 5 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with Mary Gould, executive director of Lighthouse Memory Care in Anacortes.

The presentation will offer tips and tricks to help seniors retain their memories longer and education about facts concerning memory loss, dementia, and what causes them.

The presentation is free although donations are welcome. Pre-registration is not necessary.

Community dinner at Orcas Christian School

The last Community Dinner for 2016 at Orcas Christian School will be on Tuesday, March 8 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

This free, all-you-can-eat meal will feature Italian food. On the menu is lasagna, spaghetti, broccoli, green beans, french bread, salad bar, ice cream, biscotti, and drink.

“Take a break from cooking and washing dishes and join us,” say organizers.

The gym will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. If the skies are clear, the observatory will also be open when it gets dark.
