Special to the Sounder

This year Beautiful Hands (a hand crafting group) and Orcas Island Community Church Home Arts group would like to again invite you to join with us in helping keep Orcas Island families warm.

There will be a basket at the public library to collect never used hats (also accepting scarves, mittens, and related items) to be distributed to those in need on our island.

There is always a great need for warmth during the colder weather.  The items you generously donate will be distributed primarily through the Family Resource Center and the Food Bank, as the items are received.  Last year over 80 hats were received and distributed.  Thank you again for that support!  With the economy as it is, there may be an even greater need this year.  Please do what you can to help those in our community stay warm.  The basket will be at the public library through Oct. 31.
