Chef Matt Carpenter to cook for Orcas kids

Matt Carpenter is hardly new to “cheffing” for the masses: he cooks in his warm and friendly style for his guests at the Deer Harbor Inn Restaurant.

On Thursday, April 14, however, he will be doing it as a Celebrity Chef for the public school. His menu that day of codfish wraps, home made split pea soup and strawberry shortcake echoes the culinary style of his restaurant background: fresh, filling and fabulous, say organizers. Vegetarian options will be available.

Matt and his brother, Ryan, took over the restaurant and catering operations of the Deer Harbor Inn in 1998, then purchased the restaurant from their parents, Pam and Craig, in 2006.

Kids and grownups can enjoy the meal beginning at 11:30 on Thursday, April 14. It also includes the fresh salad bar and a beverage for just $5 for adults.
