Burglar strikes Eastsound jewelry store

Sometime during the night of Thursday, Feb. 9, someone broke into Shinola in Eastsound and stole a “significant” amount of jewelry.

“Mostly finished jewelry – mostly things that I made,” said Shinola owner Vance Stephens. “It’s a disappointment, to say the least.”

At about 8:30 a.m. Friday morning, a friend of Stephens’ drove by the shop and noticed the door was open. According to Stephens, that is how the suspect exited the building.

Sheriff Ron Krebs said he called Detective Jack Wilsey on his day off to investigate the burglary with Deputy Ray Harvey. He said he has not yet seen a report, but as far as he is aware there are no known suspects.

Krebs wanted to remind the community that if they know or saw anything about the break in they should report it to the sheriff’s office by calling 378-4151 or the anonymous tip line at 370-7629.
