Bark for Life: register your pups to help fight cancer

There is less than a month until Bark For Life of Orcas Island. The event is a noncompetitive walk for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.

The event is a noncompetitive walk for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer.

“Now is the time for the animal-lovers of Orcas Island to register their pups and begin fund-raising with your four-legged friend! We have a few weeks till the event, and Bark For Life will be here before we know it,” said Taryn Somers, Community Relationship Manager.

Bark for Life is on Saturday, July 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting at the Orcas Island High School and heading over to the Orcas Off Leash Area.

Relay for Life

The county-wide relay event is being held in Friday Harbor from July 24 to 25, 3 p.m. to noon at the Friday Harbor High School track. There is a team registered representing Orcas Island called “Cure-bound from Eastsound.”

Anyone from Orcas who is interested in being a part of Relay (either to attend or help raise funds and awareness) is encouraged and welcome to join the team. Visit www.relayforlifeoffridayharbor.org and search for “Cure-bound from Eastsound.”
