The Artworks will present an exhibit of paintings in gouache, featuring scenes of Orcas Island, by the artist Jacqueline Kempfer throughout the month of June.
Gouache is opaque watercolor, which allows light to be reflected from the painted surface. The medium allows the artist to obtain both soft edges and fine details in her landscape, seascape and marine paintings.
A long-time resident of Illinois, Kempfer moved to Orcas in 2007 to be near her family. She is a member of the Orcas Palettes and Plein Air Washington.
The public is invited to view the exhibit at everyday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call 376-4408.
