A 25-foot power boat was discovered grounded in Fishing Bay in Eastsound this morning.
According to Sheriff Bill Cumming, the unidentified owners left their boat buoyed in La Conner after 9 p.m. last night and discovered it was missing early this morning.
It is unknown whether the boat was purposely grounded or if it was abandoned at sea and drifted into Fishing Bay.
Deputy Doug Maya dusted the boat for fingerprints. No evidence has been found to indicate the boat was used in another crime, but it is still under investigation.
Sheriff’s deputies are canvasing the neighborhood around Waterfront Park to see if any residents witnessed any notable activity.
Cumming said there was no obvious damage but any time a boat is grounded there can be damage to its operation.
