WinterFest: “The Languages of Music and the Gods”

“The Languages of Music and the Gods” will be the theme of this year’s annual WinterFest Lecture Series on March 19 to 21, with guest lecturer, Dr. Harold M. Best, Emeritus Professor of Music and Dean Emeritus of the Wheaton College (Illinois) Conservatory of Music.

Sponsored by Orcas Island Community Church in cooperation with The Kindlings, the annual WinterFest will collaborate this year with SongShare 2010: The Music of Ralph Vaughn Williams presented by Orcas a Cappella, and directed by the renowned choral conductor, Richard Marlow now Professor Emeritus, of the Choir of Trinity College, of Cambridge, England. The community is invited to participate.

This three-day festival of music and conversation will include a number of guest performers, including a 40-voice choir from Linfield College in Oregon who will perform, as well as sing with Orcas a Cappella under Marlow’s direction. A Cappella is looking for host families to put up two or more singers for the night of March 20.
