MONDAY

Duplicate Bridge Every Monday at 7 p.m. at the Longhouse in Eastsound duplicate bridge. For details call 376-2797 or 376-8278.

Chess The Orcas Chess Club meets at Eastsound Library at 3:30 p.m., every Monday afternoon. Members age five to 105 with exceptions at both ends are welcome. Contact Phil Heikkinen at the library for details.

Al-Anon The Al-Anon group on Orcas meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Old Parish Hall to the right of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Al-Anon is for friends and family of alcoholics.

Open Mic The Lower Tavern has open mic night weekly starting at 7:30 p.m. Jaen Black will host the event. Everyone is welcome.

WEDNESDAY

Theosophical Library Indralaya’s Theosophical Library is open to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. The theosophical discussion group also meets at Indralaya from 7:30 to 9 p.m. For info call 376-4526 or email indralaya@indralaya.com.

THURSDAY

Open Mic Pizza Night A weekly benefit at Doe Bay Resort Cafe with a different nonprofit organization chosen to benefit each month. Dinner served from 6 to 10 p.m. and the Open Mic starts between 7 and 8 p.m.

SATURDAY

Ping Pong The Orcas Table Tennis Association plays at the Orcas Christian School gym. The table tennis games run from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is sponsored by the West Beach Resort, and there is a $2 admission charge to help pay for rental fees. For more info, call Jamey Hanse at 376-2240.

Spring clean up The Rites of Spring clean up party at the Orcas Center will be on Friday, March 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 28, from 9 to 12 p.m. Cookies provided. Bring gloves, other tools provided.

Thursday, March 26

Taylor 2 Dance Company The world-renowned dance company will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Orcas Center. Student tickets are $5 and parents accompanying students may purchase tickets at half price. Regular tickets are $24, $16 for Orcas Center members.

“Voices of Darfur” date change The date for “Voices of Darfur” has been changed to Thursday, March 26, 6:30p.m. at the Orcas Island Community Church.

FRIDAY, MARCH 27

Registration Deadline for “Funding Your Student’s Education” This is the deadline to register for the Thursday, April 2 class at The Funhouse. and for the April half-hour, individual advisory sessions.

Spaghetti dinner The Annual Orcas Middle School Spaghetti Dinner will be in the Orcas School Cafeteria. The dinner, sponsored by Island Market, supports middle school activities throughout the year. There will be two seatings: 5 to 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 pm. Tickets are available from any middle school student or at the door.

Saturday, March 28

Sing With Your Child Music Together of the San Juan Islands presents “Sing With Your Child: A Celebration of Family Music Making” at 10:30 a.m. at the Orcas Library. For more informtion, contact Mary W. Giampietro at 376-3154.

Italy Trip Fundraiser The community is invited to an evening of historical fun at the Living Room to raise funds for the Orcas High School Italy trip. There will be appetizers, games and a play.

The Funhouse Science Fair The 8th Annual Funhouse Science Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is free and open to the public. There will also be a free bike tune-up and safety check and an electric bike on display.

Family Dance Night A night for the whole community hosted by Children’s House at the Odd Fellows Hall from 6 to 8 p.m. Suggested donation for entry is one for $4, two for $6 and $10 for three or more. For more information, call 376-4744.

Earth Hour The World Wildlife Fund and The Whale Museum invite all to join tens of millions of people around the world in turning out all electric lights for one hour at 8:30 p.m. as a reminder that working together all can play a constructive role in addressing the excessive use of energy that threatens climate change and ecological survival.

Dog Licenses Dog licenses will be available for purchase at Island Market from 10 until 3 p.m. This is the last day to license your dog and avoid a $10 late fee.

Poetry Deadline In celebration of National Poetry Month in April, a display of local poets will be featured in the library. Two poems may be submitted to the library by March 30.

Last Day for Little League Registrations Forms available at the school offices for Little League registration must be dropped off at the Archipelago Survey office on Madrona today in order for a child to be assured of an opportunity to play.

Solution method River Malcolm, certified Solution Method provider, will offer a free orientation in the Solution Method on Wed., Apr. 1 from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. River is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been practicing on Orcas for 14 years.
