Orcas Island School Board would like to reach out to Islands’ Sounder readers and all interested citizens, whether you have a child in our public school district or not.

The School Board has been brainstorming ways beyond their monthly general public meetings and monthly public work/budget meetings to more consistently connect with the public to keep abreast of community concerns and feedback. The intention is to give more voice to the public and learn what is working for them and what they think may need improvement.

One of the first events to help with that mission is coming up soon. Burn a few calories with OISD School Board Directors Ayn Carrillo Gailey and Linda Sheridan during an informal walk and talk around the school track (behind the high school) on Tuesday, April 11 at 2pm. Bring questions or concerns about our school district, your walking shoes, and a water bottle!
