Two-event night honoring Good Trouble Lives On

Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks on our civil and human rights by the current administration. On July 17, the anniversary of Rep. John Lewis’ passing, we’re taking action across the country to defend our democracy and carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble.

On Orcas Island, we are planning two back-to-back events. You are welcome to join both or just one.

We’ll begin with an open mic event in the Eastsound Village Green from 5-7 p.m. We invite participants to share a song or spoken word based on the question, “Where do I find inspiration to keep up the Good Trouble?” Feel free to bring a picnic dinner or get carryout from a local restaurant or food truck.

At 7:30 p.m., we’ll have a showing of the 2020 documentary film, “John Lewis: Good Trouble” at Emmanuel Parish Hall.
