The Bills return to Orcas Center

Orcas Center will present one performance only of The Bills on Friday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Formerly known as the Bill Hillys, this quintet of gifted musicians from British Columbia delight music fans of all ages with their instrumental virtuosity, lush vocal arrangements, evocative songwriting, and innovative interpretations of traditional tunes from around the globe.

Drawing musical inspiration from a broad range of North American traditions, a melange of European styles, rhythms of Latin America, and melodies of the wandering Romany peoples, The Bills have forged a musical style all their own that transcends musical boundaries and defies simple categorization. With three main writers in the band, The Bills have developed a and growing repertoire of songs. Since forming in 1996, The Bills have toured theatres and festivals from Copenhagen to California. The group last played on Orcas Island in 2003.

The Bills are brought to the San Juan Islands through the collaborative efforts of San Juan Theatre and Orcas Center. Support from the San Juan County Lodging Tax Fund assists in these collaborative efforts. The Outlook Inn is hosting The Bills during their Orcas stay.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. concert are $24, $16 for Orcas Center members, and $10 for students. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.orcascenter.org or call or 376-2281 ext. 1 during box office hours, Thursday to Saturday, noon to 4 p.m.
