The annual Orcas Island Summer Solstice Parade will be held on Saturday, June 21 at noon.
This year’s parade theme is “Alive in the Hive.” Bee part of the buzz of our 25th year of parading! We will have music, a costume fashion show, dancing, aerials, juggling and more as post-parade entertainment.
Paraders will gather on Haven Road in front of the Odd Fellows hall between 11:30 a.m. and noon. The parade route will follow Maine Street to North Beach Road and end on the Village Green.
This island favorite is welcome to all participants of any age. Come and celebrate the beginning of summer and feel the joy in our community as we dance and play together. Just remember, no written words, livestock or motorized vehicles. Costumes, instruments and good cheer are welcome.
This year’s parade poster features our longtime local artist Susie Shipman. Shipman was at the very first Summers Solstice Parade and has been a participant just about every year!
Our parade welcomes the Old Time Chautauqua theater group from Port Townsend, Brasil in Motion from Seattle and of course our kids and families. Come and join the fun!
