On Oct. 2, four Orcas Christian High School students ran for positions in the Student Association. The candidates included Maria Burns, a 12th grader, who ran for president; and three students who ran for vice president — Lula Segault, an 11th grader; Chao De Haan, a 10th grader; and Lillianna Stanford, a ninth grader.
After students listened to the candidates’ speeches and cast their votes, the election results were announced. Burns was elected president, while Segault and Stanford were elected vice presidents.
“I’m glad that students have put their trust in me to make this school year a memorable year, and I promise to do my best,” said President-elect Burns. Vice President-elect Segault added, “I can’t wait to plan the most fun activities ever!” Stanford said, “Even though this is my first year in the Student Association, I will try my best to support this school and its students.”
The new members are glad they were elected, and will be devoting their time to organizing school events and trips, listening to the needs of the student body, and drawing the community of the school even closer.
