Solstice Parade celebrates 20 years

Everyone is invited to celebrate the 20th Annual Summer Solstice Parade on Saturday, June 23 at noon in Eastsound. The theme is “Animals, Plants and Bugs,” a reprise of their very first year of this merriment.

The always colorful, whimsical procession will once again glide, swirl and dance on Main Street to North Beach Road and loop into the Village Green. Immediately following the parade, join the conga line on the Green. The fun continues with music and dance performances by local favorites.

Anyone wishing to participate in the parade, there is no registration. Just show up by 11:30 am on Haven Road. Haven intersects Main Street and signage will point the way. Volunteers will be on hand to help participants find a place in the line-up.

The parade is a foot parade that includes bicycles, wagons, carts and people-powered powered floats. No motorized vehicles, livestock or written words. It is a family-friendly event to welcome summer, Orcas style.

Announcements for upcoming costume-making workshops are coming soon. For more information or to volunteer please call Laura Gibbons at (360) 376-5458.
