SJ Preservation Trust benefits from Plein Air artists’ show

For three weeks in July, plein air (open-air) artists from the San Juan Islands and across the state (representing Plein Air Washington Association) will be painting on San Juan Preservation Trust properties and public lands throughout the islands. The artists and their easels will occupy roadsides and public parks as they capture impressions of the San Juans on canvas.

Beginning on Saturday, August 9, Gallery San Juan, at 232 A Street, Friday Harbor, will hold a juried exhibition and public art sale of the plein air paintings created at this event, with proceeds benefitting the San Juan Preservation Trust. A reception will be held from 6 until 8:30 p.m., and the paintings will remain on display until August 23.

Those who wish to get first pick of these paintings can do so by attending the San Juan Preservation Trust’s “Summer Social” on Saturday, August 2. While the “Summer Social” is for members of the Preservation Trust, those who are not currently members may join at the event for a nominal suggested donation.
