When visiting musicians, island venues and top-notch studio engineers intersect, you get the Doe Bay All-Stars Band.
The 2025 Artists in Residence summer season at the Doe Bay Resort featured 12 weeks of free performances that drew crowds from near and far. Many of the artists held full-length concerts in the Village Green as part of Orcas Center’s summer concert series.
The residencies culminated in an album recorded and mixed at Kevin Colomby’s Hidden Valley Studios in Olga, with mastering by Jake Perrine, who is also the center’s artistic executive director. This is the second record by a compilation of artists dubbed the Doe Bay All-Stars Band. Resort owner and residency founder Joe Brotherton produced the project.
“DB-AIR 25” features music and lyrics written by Nick Foster, hannah ramone, Nick Drummond, Stephcynie, Carrie Jennings, Jonas Myers, Navid Eliot, Craig Suede, Kate Dinsmore, Susy Sun, The W Lovers and Kaylee Cole. Contributing artists are Harlan Silverman, Jeff Fielder, Tekla Waterfield, Charles Wicklander, Thomas Jennings, Kate Olson, Annie J, Carrie Jennings and Jonas Myers. It can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music and more!
“Most of these musicians did not record together in the studio on the same day. When artists visited, they would contribute to multiple songs, and the result is a year-long tapestry of collaboration,” Colomby said.
Doe Bay will accept applications for its next artist-in-residence program in mid-January/early February.
“We hope The Doe Bay All-Stars Band will be a common household name,” says Brotherton. “With the band’s second release, we are announcing each song on each of the 12 days of Christmas. Don’t miss out on this daily musical unveiling of 14 songs recorded and mastered in 2025. We want you to become as hooked on these two albums as we are.”
