Orcas Island Fire & Rescue members have been donating time to Patos Island under the guise of the informal Patos Island Fire Department since November 2005. The group has a membership of more than 60, and has donated well over 1000 hours towards nature habitat restoration, trail/campsite maintenance, building maintenance and brush abatement. A few members recently spent two nights and several work hours on trails, campsite and island maintenance, and adding seven new members.
