The Orcas Island Artworks features visionary paintings in oil on canvas by Larkin Chollar through the month of July.
A professional sculptor for 40 years, Chollar began painting six years ago. He has an open studio in Deer Harbor, where he teaches classes in sculpture and painting.
“I work in a totally intuitive way, just bringing out what I see in the painting,” he said. “I see elements of impressionism, surrealism, realism, and transcendental themes all blending together with the dominant feature being the human face. I am trying to create a resonance of hope and expansion that the viewer feels within themselves as they view the work.”
The Artworks is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
