“I hope to stimulate memories of a certain time or place on the island,” Peterson said. “I am striving to bring the viewer into a closer look at the natural world and the beauty of not only the larger scene but also the small and intimate. The addition of thread and stitching invites the viewer to take a closer look.”
Leonardo LIVE, a high-definition movie delivered by satellite from the U.K.’s National Gallery, will open in theaters across the globe beginning Feb. 16.

Robert Lepage’s technologically advanced new staging of Wagner’s “Ring Cycle” comes to an epic climax with “Götterdämmerung” (“The Twilight of the Gods.”) The opera uses high-tech video projections and a set of 24 planks known as “the machine” to realize Wagner’s ambitious vision for the final chapter in his saga.
Keri surprised Ed at their wedding with a speech in Tagalog, the language spoke in the Philippines. She says it sums up their relationship:

“Our kids are everything to us,” Mandy said. “Charlie is so devoted to them, especially coaching sports … we focus everything on the kids. It’s going to be weird when they are all moved out. There won’t be any games to go to or bunches of laundry to do. My dream is to get an RV and travel the country with Charlie. Just the two of us.”

The exhibit will feature selections of historic photos, documents, stories and objects from the museum archives, as well as photos from days gone by which have been carefully restored by Peter Fisher.
The Artsmith Salon Series continues its writers’ salon and open mic into 2012 at Kangaroo House. The event will feature novelist and writing professor Jason Skipper reading from his novel “Hustle” on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.
“Rock on the Rock Singers” and “Musical Theater Youth Troupe” is returning to Orcas Center for another eight-week series directed by Grace McCune.
“Atticus is trying to teach his kids that they will get along a lot better in life if they can learn to stand in someone else’s shoes,” said Beth Baker, who plays the narrator in Orcas Center’s production of “Mockingbird.”
