There is an Indian proverb that states, “Where the needle goes, the thread follows.” In “Rock by Rock,” a delightful non-fiction children’s picture book by Jennifer Bradbury, the main character Nek Chand spins his nostalgia into a garden that patches his past to his present, finding an unexpected new life in a new land. Bradbury taught in Chandigarh, India and began writing her first novel there. She has written six novels and two early reader books. Bradbury is a former English teacher and one-day Jeopardy! Champ. She lives in Burlington, Washington, with her family. She will visit the Orcas School District Elementary classrooms and present her book “Rock by Rock.” An adult reception will take place in the school library at 8 a.m. on Thursday, March 2. Books can be pre-purchased at Darvill’s Bookstore, where she will visit for a book signing on March 2 at 1 p.m. She will appear at the Orcas Library on March 3 at 1 p.m.
