Orcas Island Physical Therapy reopens

To our Orcas Island Community,

We hope that you, your family and friends have remained safe and healthy during this coronavirus outbreak. It is hard to think that it has been over two months since we temporarily closed the clinic. At that time, we interrupted direct patient care out of an abundance of caution, to curb any potential spread of this infection.

Now, moving forward, we are happy to say that we have been preparing for your eventual return to the clinic. Starting June 1, initially at a reduced capacity, we will gradually resume full patient operations.

We are implementing recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Washington State Department of Health, and The American Physical Therapy Association.

Following these guidelines, we have some new procedures. First, please call to schedule an appointment at 360-376-6604, extension 0. We will ask you some screening questions to clear you and put your name on the schedule.

On your appointment day and time, please bring a mask with you to wear. Please stay in your car in our parking lot while waiting for your appointment. We will come out to greet you and ask if there are any changes from your initial phone questionnaire. We will take your temperature with a no-touch infrared thermometer. We’ll ensure that you have a mask to wear for the session. You will then be escorted into the clinic to wash your hands prior to your treatment.

In the clinic, we have been busy preparing for your safe return. We have installed separation screens between the gym equipment with safe physical distancing in mind. Between treatments, we will sterilize all surfaces. All staff and patients will be wearing facemasks and treatment staff will wear face-shields as appropriate. And as always, all staff will wash hands between all sessions.

We will continue to monitor recommended guidelines and modify our protocol as necessary to ensure safety for everyone – staff, patients and family as well.

We look forward to serving you again to the best of our ability during these times!

Be well,

Andrew Stephens and Scott Heisinger
