Orcas Center is excited to announce a special performance featuring Bobby Bare Jr. and Mars FM on Sunday, July 20, at 5 p.m. on the Village Green. This free event is part of the Summer Concert Series presented by Orcas Center, Doe Bay Resort, GiveOrcas/Orcas Island Community Foundation and San Juan County.
Bobby Bare Jr., an American singer-songwriter and musician, is known for his eclectic blend of rock, country and indie influences. The son of country music legend Bobby Bare, he began his musical journey in the 1990s and gained early recognition with his band Bare Jr. As a solo artist, Bare Jr. has earned praise for his gritty vocals, heartfelt lyrics and genre-bending sound, exploring themes of love, heartbreak and personal struggle. His work has solidified his place as a unique voice in the Americana and alternative music scenes.
Mars FM, an indie folk-rock trio based in Portland, Oregon, radiates a warmth reminiscent of their red desert home in Southwest Colorado. Their “familial” harmonies, dreamy pedal steel and playful spirit coalesce into a heart-opening live experience. Their most recent release, “Under Your Branches,” offers a softer, more reflective tone, with 10 deeply heart-centered songs recorded live in a dimly lit closet following the loss of a band member’s grandparents. The album explores themes of grief, love, mystery and acceptance.
Don’t miss this fun in the summer sun! Another great free concert thanks to donations from local supporters and businesses!
