Orcas Center launches new website

Orcas Center has announced the launch of a new website made possible with generous support from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation.

As web technology has changed significantly since the previous Orcas Center site was built, there are now tremendous new innovations to promote programs on the web.

Bill Isenberger, principal of Seattle-based Axis Studios, said about the project, “We were very excited to work with Orcas Center in developing a website that would equal the first-class facility that the community depends on for its cultural offerings. We feel that we have developed a site that is vibrant and impactful and supports the Center’s marketing efforts and ticket sales, as well as some key new features, such as video and audio clips of upcoming shows, a calendar by month that links directly to season events, and an archive section that lists past seasons’ activities. Enews signup allow for ongoing announcements.”

A generous grant from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, intended to assist Orcas Center improve financial performance and build internal operating capacity, has gone further than originally anticipated with this project. The launch of the new site is only one step of a larger initiative to engage more community members, including teens and young adults, and to assist in promotion of Orcas Island among visitors. Staff will continue to develop strategies to link the site with the social media tools Facebook and Twitter in order to expand the site’s audience.

“Our hope is that the Orcas Center website will be visited frequently by community members who will learn of upcoming events, share thoughts on shows, view photo galleries of past productions, get more involved here, and of course, buy lots of tickets,” said Barbara Courtney, Executive/Artistic Director. “All this means better financial performance for the Center so that we can continue doing what we do, only better!”

The address for the new Orcas Center site remains as it has been: www.orcascenter.org
