Old truck gets a new lease on life

Michael Whellams’ dad bought a brand new Ford F100 in 1953. Now, 65 years and three generations later, the truck belongs to his son.

When Whellams and his wife moved to Orcas in summer 1998, they brought with them the classic truck. The couple approached Obye Davis, owner of Davis Auto Body, in 2014 and asked him if he’d be willing to do a complete restoration. Also included in the external rejuvenation was an internal update by Uzek Susol of Orcas Auto Tech. The truck rolled out of the shop in December 2017.

Now the truck resides in Las Vegas, with Whellams’ youngest son. It was entered in the 2018 Reno Hot August Nights car show where it won the Reno Police Chief’s Celebrity award.
