The Funhouse and The Coalition for Orcas Youth are thrilled to welcome island families to join them for an award-winning family workshop series called Strengthening Families 10-14. This program gives parents and adolescents a road map to help navigate the transition from childhood into the early teen years. Developed by Iowa State University, the program equips families with youth ages 10-14 with tools, skills, and strategies to thrive in the adolescent years.
Each session begins with a family dinner, then families split into two groups; youth head off to a facilitated youth program, and parents meet with a parent facilitator. An hour later, the parents and youth reunite for fun family activities that solidify the evening’s learning. The program and dinner are free and on-site childcare will be provided for younger siblings. The workshop series launches Wednesday, Jan. 18 and runs through March 8 from 5-7:30 p.m. To register visit www.funhousecommons.org under the programs tab. The program is offered in both English and Spanish.
