Music at Emmanuel

The Music Committee is pleased to present the Tow Away Zone with Carl Berger, Marj Franke and Tish Knapp at noon on Wednesday, July 20.

The three experiment with a wide variety of musical approaches: traditional with off-the-wall, editorializing with nostalgia, slapstick with serenity. Carl a State Park Ranger-turned Innkeeper, has lived on Obstruction Pass with his wife Sandy since 1992. He began playing guitar and banjo in 1962, hitting his peak around 1963. Marj calls herself “a newcomer with deep roots.” She and her husband moved here in 2009. Marj is an artist, a masseuse, and she’s ready to sing anything, anytime, anywhere. Tish, her family and farm menagerie has been on Orcas Island for over forty years. She taught Literature and Creative writing at Orcas High School and enjoys long philosophical conversations and singing close harmony. The concert includes a variety of songs to be announced on stage. The committee welcomes donations to fund the Virgil Cleveland Memorial Scholarship program that provides scholarships to local music students to attend music camp.
