Milligan and Stamper lead Brilliant Traces

Actors Theater of Orcas Island will present “Brilliant Traces”, a full-length play by Cindy Lou Johnson beginning Sept. 4 at the Grange. The play will feature Melinda Milligan playing Rosannah DeLuce and Norm Stamper playing Henry Harry

Director Doug Bechtel said, “‘Brilliant Traces’ will surprise you and stay with you far after the end of the play.”

The script has been described as an off-beat and universal story. Milligan’s role is a woman fleeing her life who finds a hermit named Henry who has withdrawn from civilization. The story unfolds in a remote cabin in the wilds of Alaska during a blizzard.

Milligan’s role was played by Joan Cusack in the original New York production.

“Melinda Milligan and Norm Stamper will delight you as they inhabit these charming characters. An evocative set by Bill Westlake provides the backdrop for this story of love and loss,” Bechtel said.

According to The New York Times, “[‘Brilliant Traces’] deals with common issues of love and family, and does so with characters, story, and dialog so fantastic that they could only exist within the enchanted realm of the stage.”

“Brilliant Traces” opens Friday, Sept. 4 at the Grange. Additional performances will be staged on Sept. 5, 11, 12 and 13. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $10 at Darvill’s or at the door. This play is suitable for all ages.
