Little jazz minnows taking their first swim

The Funtime Blues Band swung into action Monday afternoon at the Funhouse with 32 members on board.

“I’ll have to say, that when I hear those young voices singing the Hello Blues for the first time, this 79-year-old heart still leaps for joy,” said trumpet player Willie Thomas, who is leading the band of young jazz enthusiasts.

Al Bentley and Emily Miner helped Thomas teach the children. They will practice every week until their May 5 concert at Orcas Center.
