Lions Club annual salmon BBQ coming Saturday, July 3

What is the secret to the mouthwatering taste of the salmon at the Orcas Lions’ annual salmon BBQ? Some say it’s the freshly caught wild salmon. Others say it’s the slow smoking in the outside smokers. Still others insist it’s the Lions’ special secret recipe sauce. Chances are the answer is all of the above, say organizers.

What is the secret to the mouthwatering taste of the salmon at the Orcas Lions’ annual salmon BBQ?

Some say it’s the freshly caught wild salmon. Others say it’s the slow smoking in the outside smokers. Still others insist it’s the Lions’ special secret recipe sauce. Chances are the answer is all of the above, say organizers.

Featured with a generous portion of salmon are huge baked potatoes, coleslaw and rolls. Hotdogs are available for the kids. Choices of beverages include, lemonade, coffee and freshly brewed unsweetened iced tea. Dessert is strawberry short-cake provided by the congregation of St. Francis Catholic Church for $3.50.

The bbq is on Saturday, July 3 1 p.m., right after the annual Independence Day parade, at the American Legion on Crescent Beach Rd. Cost of the meal is $17 for adults, $8 for children and $5for the kids’ hotdog meal.

Tickets can be purchased at Kay’s Antiques, Cherie Lindholm Real Estate, at the parade and on site.
