Intro to board service workshop

Introduction to Board Service

Submitted by the Orcas Island Community Foundation.

Did you know that there are over 100 nonprofits serving the Orcas Island community? Their focus ranges from social services, housing, and healthcare to the arts, sciences, and recreation. They all benefit from having a skilled board and chances are you have been asked to consider serving on a board for one — or more — of these nonprofits. The Orcas Island Community Foundation is hosting a workshop for individuals who want to learn more about nonprofit board service from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, in the Volk Family Meeting Room at OICF, 33 Urner St. There is no charge for the program, however, seating is limited, so RSVP to megan@oicf.us or call 360-376-6423. Topics will include rules and responsibilities; how to assess organizational culture to assure a good fit; and more.
