The Ian McFeron Band from Seattle will entertain at the Lopez Grange Hall on Friday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Ian McFeron is a prolific songwriter whose lyrical prose and work ethic have drawn comparisons to Bob Dylan and Ryan Adams. Last year, Gene Stout, of the Seattle P-I said, “The Ian McFeron Band plays an earthy yet sophisticated blend of folk, rock, alternative-country and blues that belies the band’s youthfulness. And it’s danceable, too.”

In live performance, McFeron (vocals, guitar, piano) is joined by the Texas fiddle of Alisa Milner and the backbeat rhythms of Jon Markel (bass) and Mark Bateman (drums). For this performance, Washington Blues Society’s “Best Blues Electric Guitar” recipient Rod Cook will perform with the band on telecaster. The diverse musicianship of its members allows the Seattle-based Ian McFeron Band to shift smoothly through a variety of roots-Americana styles, ranging from acoustic folk-rock to gritty alt-country blues, from heartfelt, soulful ballads to driving, danceable backbeat grooves.

Eager to bring their music to listeners across the United States, the Ian McFeron Band has doubled its touring base every year since 2003. McFeron says, “This ambitious drive to achieve nationwide recognition has brought adventure and artistic gratification, but it has not come without its costs.” On their most recent tour of the Western United States, the Ian McFeron Band burned more than 1,000 gallons of diesel and spent more than $4,000 on fuel.

Says McFeron, “It became clear that it was time for a new and better solution. Thus, the band has begun raising funds to hire Frybrid (www.frybrid.com), a Seattle-based alternative fuel company, to outfit their 35-foot diesel tour bus with a heated fuel tank, fuel lines, and fuel injectors that will allow it to run on Straight Vegetable Oil. At their show on Friday, June 6 at the Grange Hall, the band will have literature describing their plans and how fans can contribute and help them becoming carbon neutral this fall.”
