“HERSTORY: Women’s Clubs of Orcas Island” Presented by Orcas Island Historical Museums

Submitted by Orcas Island Historical Museum.

An opening reception with light refreshments for “HERSTORY: Women’s Clubs of Orcas Island” will be from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6,at 181 North Beach Rd. The winter exhibit explores the history of three women’s clubs on Orcas Island, as told by the groups themselves. The Fidelis Circle, The Madrona Club and Stitch and Gossip were all founded in the first half of the 20th century and are all still active today. They’ve helped connect generations of Orcas women with each other, and their decades of outward-facing community work have had outsized impacts on every Islander’s life. This exhibit gives these women a chance to tell their stories; what these clubs have meant for generations of members; and for the island at large. This exhibit will run Feb. 1- June 28.
