The Friday Harbor Whale Museum’s lecture 2008 series continues with a talk by Dr. Joe Gaydos at the museum at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23. Dr. Gaydos will discuss “The Silent Disappearance of Salish Sea Marine Birds.”
Dr. Gaydos is a Wildlife Veterinarian and Regional Director of the SeaDoc Society. His veterinary degree is from the University of Pennsylvania and his Ph.D. is from the University of Georgia. He has studied health and disease in wildlife all over the world.
He became interested in declining marine birds when evaluating threatened and endangered species of the Salish Sea, a metric now used by the U.S. and Canada as an indicator of the health of the Salish Sea. Dr. Gaydos lives on Orcas Island and loves to spend time with his family camping, kayaking, hiking, and watching wildlife.
