Four-year-old wins fishing derby

Submitted by Orcas Adventures

The winner of the Bill Yarlott Youth Fishing Derby was Gabe Sicilia from Friday Harbor. Gabe recently turned four and this is the first fish he has ever caught. It was a beautiful 15.625-inch rainbow trout. Calder Jones took second with a 15.5-inch kokanee. There were many squeals of glee, fishy hands and deservedly proud children (and parents) who came and fished their hearts out. It was a sight to be remembered. We saw kokanee, rainbow and cutthroat trout pulled from the clear waters of Cascade Lake by the children of the islands all to honor Bill Yarlott’s memory. This 22nd annual derby was truly a successful event with one of the biggest turnouts we have seen since Orcas Adventures has hosted it.
