The Orcas Island Artworks features abstract and landscape paintings by Deborah Jones through the month of June.
Jones began her career as a faux finish artist in Telluride, Colo. This provided her with an extensive background in the use of Venetian plaster, gold leaf and acrylic tints. Her transition from walls to canvas coincided with her move to Orcas Island in 2007.
“My trees come from years spent living among the high alpine aspen groves in Colorado,” she said. The light of the Southwest is bold and deliberate. In contrast, the Pacific Northwest has opened my eyes to its subdued light. I have merged these two unique experiences of light into my tree paintings.”
The Artworks is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
