The Orcas Island Community Band prides itself in musical variety, and the band’s upcoming show is no exception.

Approximately 30 musicians will perform Russian folk songs, TV show theme songs, fun marches, Spanish tunes, Romanian rhapsodies and a modern composition conducted by guest director Darren Dix will be performed at Orcas Center on Saturday, June 2, at 7:30 p.m.

The band’s mission is to give local musicians a venue in which to play and keep traditional concert band music alive in today’s busy electronic world. Additionally the community band believes music is for everyone and admission is by donation so everyone can afford to attend. Children and families are welcome.

“Show the young ones how fun a band can be,” say organizers.
