The watercolor class “Color in Sunlight” on Feb. 12 is the first in a series of single day sessions at the senior center.

Each class, led by Caroline Buchanan, will address a role of color in watercolor. The courses run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a short break for (brown bag) lunch. To register, call the center at 376-2677. Each class is limited to the first 10 who register.

On Saturday, Feb. 26, the topic is “Color Chords,” that particular combination of colors chosen which make the visual harmonic of the painting. In March Buchanan will continue with “Composing in Color” on Thursday, March 17, “Layering and Pigment Choice” on Thursday, March 31, and “Complex Color Planning” on Thursday, April 14.

Buchanan says she believes that color considerations are most important for the artist who wishes to move beyond the basic processes and learn how to effectively use the color – plus water – which make up the magic of watercolor.
