Children’s House Announces 14th Annual Honorary Mayor of Eastsound Campaign

Submitted by Orcas Island Children’s House.

The 14th Annual Honorary Mayor of Eastsound Campaign is ON! For over a decade, Orcas Island has elected a cherished animal to be our honorary mayor. The mayor’s race is a light-hearted community fundraiser benefiting Children’s House, an Infant-Toddler Center and Preschool located in Eastsound.

The race kicked off on June 4th. Candidates, along with their campaign managers, have just 4 weeks to gather as many votes as possible. $1 = 1 vote. At the end of the voting period, the new mayor is given the key to the city and acts as honorary mayor until the next race. All funds raised help Children’s House keep early childhood education available and affordable for families on the island.

This year’s Mayoral Debate is going to be a grand ol’ time! We are excited to bring this event back in person (outdoors and distanced). Candidates will have an opportunity to answer some hard-hitting questions for Eastsound constituents.

When: Saturday, June 25th from 1pm – 2pm

Where: Village Green Stage

Hosted by: Jake Perrine, Kevin Ranker and Jamey Moriarty

The Mayoral Debates are notoriously off the hook! Candidates this year include four lovable pups, a cat, and an Orca. If you are not able to attend in person, we invite you to vote at: mayorofeastsound.org. Voting ends at noon on July 2nd and Eastsound’s *NEW* Honorary Mayor will be announced shortly thereafter. Thank you for your support and good luck to all the candidates!
