Celebrate the salmon’s journey to Orcas Island

Each fall, hundreds of Chinook return to Glenwood Springs, Long Live the Kings’ field station on Olga Road. You’re invited to celebrate this remarkable homecoming at “Return of the Kings” on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 1-4 p.m.

This free, family-friendly event features guided tours of the hatchery and fish ladder, opportunities to see salmon up close, and a chance to meet the people working to protect and restore these iconic fish. Lunch and drinks will be available for purchase.

Since 1978, the Chinook raised here have supported local fisheries and helped feed endangered orcas — an extraordinary example of how people and salmon can thrive together. New this year: Free film screening! Join us Friday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m., at the Orcas Center for a free screening of “Mother: Sisterhood in the Wild,” followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Chad Brown.
