Call for kid artisan vendors

The sixth annual Children’s Christmas Market is Saturday, Dec. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Orcas Island Public Library and generously sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Any Orcas Island child from the ages of 5 to 18, from any school, or home-schooled, is invited to sell their hand-crafted wares at this festive children’s market. Previous years’ markets have been a treasure trove of greeting cards, hand carved toys, felted and knitted wares, beach glass art, salvaged art, baked goods and sweet surprises, all starting from 25 cents. The maximum price is $10. All work is handmade, local and affordable.

A $5 fee gets you a small or shared table to sell your wares. Slightly larger tables are offered at $10 and are limited in supply, so book a spot early.

For safety reasons, the selling of hot food that requires cooking on site or plugging in to an electric socket may be allowed only to vendors over 15 with parent supervision.

For young artists who are interested in selling their work at the market, contact Rachel Bishop at 376 5003 or rachelbishop@yahoo.com to reserve a table.
