Breast cancer support group meets on Orcas

Submitted by group organizers.

Anyone who has experienced breast cancer knows how frightening, strange and lonely the diagnosis and treatment can be. From the initial shock of hearing the “C” word to the treatment that changes our body forever to living each day with a constant cloud, breast cancer remains a tough journey despite amazing advances.

Since last spring, several women on the island who have had — or are currently dealing with — breast cancer have been getting together to share coffee, stories, concerns and anecdotes about their experience.

There’s no agenda, only a desire for women who have been through it to feel less alone in their diagnosis and their new reality.

We meet the last Saturday of each month in the small conference room in Orcas Island Public Library from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Bring your own beverage; morning treats will be available.

The next meeting is Feb. 29, hope to see you there! Questions? Please call Dottie at 360-317-5821 or Diane at 360-317-3691.
