Brasil in Motion brings Afro-Brazilian dance and music to the Village Green

Orcas Center is thrilled to present Brasil in Motion, an award-winning Brazilian arts organization based in Seattle, in a vibrant outdoor performance on the Village Green on Sunday, June 23 at 5 p.m. This free event is part of Orcas Center’s Summer Concert Series, presented by Orcas Center, Doe Bay Resort, GiveOrcas/Orcas Island Community Foundation and San Juan County.

Formerly known as Bahia in Motion, Brasil in Motion is dedicated to preserving and sharing Afro-Brazilian cultural heritage through dance, music and education. Co-directed by Daniel Nery dos Santos and Aileen Panke, the organization offers classes, events and cultural immersion tours to Bahia, Brazil. Their work emphasizes the importance of a balanced body, mind and spirit, using the arts to foster joy, healing and cross-cultural understanding.

Brasil in Motion has collaborated with renowned institutions such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle Theater Group, Spectrum Dance Theater and the Seattle Symphony. Their performances and workshops celebrate the rich traditions of Brazil, including Afro-Brazilian Orixás dances, Capoeira, Maculelê, Xaxado and Samba.
