Branch Branciforte, who just turned 96, is known for his love of painting and cooking. His work will be on display at Washington Federal in Eastsound throughout the month of January.

He devoted his adult life to being an engineer at major aviation companies. While sketching and wood carving were always a hobby, it wasn’t until he was 81 that he began painting watercolors. All it took was one art class, and he was off and running.

Since that time, he has given away more than 200 pieces and creates two vibrant watercolors a week.

“Something will jump out at me and say ‘paint me!’ and so I say ‘I’ll try,” he told the Sounder.
